On Sunday, March 8th, twenty-three ASPE Chapter 55 members, their friends and families arrived at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Palo Alto. They were there to put on a Bar-Be-Que for the patients of Building 7 which houses the Spinal Cord Injury, Visually Impaired, Traumatic Brain Injury and the Hospice units of the Hospital. One of the patients prepared the attached flyer announcing the event. As you can see from that notice, some of the patients invited their family members for the event. Other patients, who were not able to sit at the tables, were served in their rooms.

In all 240 meals consisting of cheeseburgers, potato salad, macaroni salad, chips, cookies and soft drinks were prepared and served by the ASPE 55 volunteers. Excluding are two volunteers under the age of 1, the volunteers ranged in age from 14 to the LOW 60’s (hey, it’s just an estimate). The patients and their families were very appreciative and told us that for a “first time” group, we nailed it! All of the volunteers had a great time and are eager to do it again.

The ASPE 55 Board of Directors has decided to make it an annual event. Enjoy the pictures HERE and contact us if you want to join us at next year’s event.

ASPE Santa Clara Chapter 55 is happy to announce that its "Young Estimator Award" is now under development for presentation early next year. This annual monetary award to one or two qualified young working estimators will be bestowed based on qualification questionnaires and is intended to encourage the candidates' continuing professional development, including progress through ASPE's comprehensive education program.

Put aside those construction plans and deadlines! Take a break! Share an evening of Bocce with old and new friends and business associates. Enjoy a glass of wine, fine appetizers and the pleasant ambiance of Campo di Bocce in Los Gatos. Last year's winner of the coveted "We've Got Bocce" trophy was Blach Construction. There will be seven other teams who would like nothing more than triumph this year and take the trophy away from them and be able to display the trophy in their office lobby for the following year. As the competition dwindles down to the final four teams there will be two courts available for free play between 7:00pm and 8:30pm. To "hell" with the recession. Have a little fun. Play Bocce.
